"A (wo)man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of (her)his life in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of beautiful God has implanted in the human soul."- Goethe

Son

I recently finished Son, by Lois Lowry:

It's the final of four novels intertwined with the award-winning The Giver. It was a good read and nice closure to the series. The following themes stood out to me:
  • sacrifice for family
  • preparation
  • gaining education/ knowledge
  • the power of fear
  • the greater power of love
  • unique gifts each person can contribute (whether to family or larger communities)
Like two other most recent ones, Gathering Blue, and Messenger, this book seemed to end abruptly following an anticlimactic climax. However, this book is geared toward youths, so it can't be to crazy, youknowhatImean?

Have you read this book before?
